Business with Conscience

Trade Right International believes that social business can bring dignity and freedom to all involved, reducing the effects of poverty and social exclusion.  This can happen anywhere in the world. We are a social business, trade ethically, pay the Living Wage, and return surplus profits into valuable education and community development initiatives.

What we do

Trade Right Ghana

Trade Right Ghana is working in the Bulsa district in the Upper East Region.

Our primary goal in Ghana is to empower and enable women to support their families, whether that would be in education and/or medical needs.

TRI (Ghana) has assisted women in  to establish their own co-operatives to collect high quality shea nuts and produce premium shea butter.  We assist in finding buyers for this and some of the shea butter some of which is is exported to TRI: Scotland.

In response to a request from the women, TRI are helping to build classrooms for the Joy School and also a mortuary beside the local hospital.

What we do

Trade Right Scotland

Trade Right International is a Community Interest Company.

Working in partnership with other agencies, TRI help men from chaotic lifestyles to transition to become valuable contributors to the local community.
Our employability programme provides a secure and supportive environment to facilitate this.

More recently we have started to look closely at the high unemployment in the area where our manufacturing unit is situated.  Greenock is one of the highest areas of Social Deprivation in Scotland.  We are aware that there’s few employment opportunities for many young people and so we’re working with the Kickstarter programme employing long term unemployed young people through that and have taken on board the modern apprenticeship programme.

TRI’s manufacturing unit provides ample opportunity to develop a variety of  transferable skills.  We are able to provide a contract manufacturing service, white label products and also produce our own brand carishea, in the facility.

Our circular economy venture, Redeem Exchange is also based here which is providing hand sanitiser and screen wash.

All of our team are paid (as a minimum) the Real Living Wage as recommended by the Living Wage Foundation.  Any employees who have a payment from the government which is less than this amount will have their wage topped up to meet the real living wage.
